Oren Marcel Dart, 55, rural Oblong, Illinois passed away at 12:35 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012, at his residence following a year long battle with cancer. Born in DeRidder, Louisiana on September 27, 1956, he was the son of Kenneth Lorn Dart and Carol Marie (Ellis) Dart. He was a graduate of Oblong High School ~ Class of 1975. As a young man he worked on the family farm and for Harl Dart; Brigg’s Mfg. 1976-1979; in 1979 he moved to Jasper, Wyoming to work for Circle “T” Drilling; later for Whitmore Drilling in Lawrenceville, Illinois; in August 1983 he went to work for Marathon Refinery, Robinson, Illinois retiring after 28 1/2 years from Complex 7. He was of the Christian faith. He was a member of the Flat Rock Masonic Lodge AF & AM #348, Flat Rock, Illinois for 26 years. Oren always had a great love for farming and always did so on his days off.
On January 30, 1995, Oren married Tina Marie Zink, who survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Haley Dart; a step-daughter, Ashley & Adam Mangin; two grandchildren, Caleb and Emma Mangin; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Greg & Lori Dart, Kevin & Darlene Dart and Bradley Dart; several nieces and nephews.
Oren was preceded in death by his parents and four uncles, John & Gerold Dart and Buck & Bob Ellis.
Officiating the funeral service will be Steve Totten. Burial will be in Wilkin Cemetery, rural Oblong, Illinois.
